HARRISBURG, Pa. - March 7, 2008 - New SMPM microminiature RF connectors from Tyco Electronics offer the same performance and convenience as the proven SMP connectors, but in a form factor that is 30% smaller. With a low VSWR through 40 GHz, SMPM connectors offer a versatile solution for high-density packaging, allowing center-to-center spacing of 0.135 inch.

The 50-ohm connectors are available with either a smooth bore or fully detented interface to provide insertion forces of either 2.5 or 4.5 pounds. The interface design complies with MIL-STD-348A.

The connectors are designed for rugged environments, where harsh mechanical shock and vibrations are found. Their small size also makes them a favorite for ground and airborne radar, antenna systems, and other communications systems where dense packaging means compact size matters.

Available in cable-mount jacks, board-mount receptacles, and accessories such as adapters and shrouds—all with a range of configurations, SMPM connectors are the space-saving solution to next-generation systems. They work with .047-inch semirigid cable and T-flex 405 cable. The connectors are designed to accommodate radial and axial misalignments of 0.010 inch to allow easy mating.
